Hi! I’m Hannah – wife, mom, author, and lover of stories. And royals. Which you’ll find in almost all my books. Another fun fact? I live in Australia! So while most of you are currently enjoying the warmer days that come with Spring, I’m very gratefully saying goodbye to the heatwaves and humidity of Summer and blissfully embracing cooler days and snuggly blankets. Bring it on. Learn more about me and my books here on my site and on Facebook or Instagram.

You’ll also find details of my upcoming release, The Princess List.

Having grown up in the palace, the daughter of two senior staff members, Bayley Lorbera knows all about palace life. What she doesn’t know? Why on earth Crown Prince Cameron would want her to be his wife. Backup in a ballgown? That’s her. Princess? Not so much. She can’t even figure out her own life, let alone help run a country. But Cam won’t give up on her, and slowly, Bayley starts to wonder if maybe the expectations and plans she had for herself were all wrong to start with.

In The Princess List, Bayley works her way through a list of things she’s certain will make her the confident, well-rounded adult she dreams of being. I’ll admit, coming up with the twenty things on it was a lot of fun. I’ve never made an official bucket list for myself, but here’s how I’d go with Bayley’s:

BAYLEY’S LIST AND HOW I’D DO IF IT WERE MINE

1.     Travel the world – stand in at least five other countries.

To date, I’ve stood in eight countries other than my own. I’d love to add more (the UK especially) but for the purpose of the exercise, yep. Tick.

2.     Write a book and have it published. Become a famous author.

Not sure about the whole famous thing, ha! But The Princess List will be my eighth published book, so tick for this one too.

3.     Sit in a tiny café for at least three hours and watch people. Do lots of eavesdropping but don’t let them know. Get ideas for stories.

Not for three hours, although I’ve definitely done this for short periods of time.

4.     Dye my hair purple.

Not yet. One day.

5.     Stay up all night to read a book.

Yes, for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Pretty sure that’s the only all-nighter I’ve pulled to read, although there have been lots of 3ams.

6.     Run a marathon (because, seriously, how cool would that be to say I’ve run a marathon!)

Ha! Not a chance. Although, I agree. It would be cool.

7.     Get married and have a family

Tick. 17 years with many more to come.

8.   Complete a high ropes course, or zipline

Tick. Ziplines are awesome. High ropes courses, less awesome, but I’ve done them on school camps.

9.     Learn to surf

That would be a no. Fun, but can’t see it happening.

10.  Pet a giraffe

Nope.

11.  Kiss a frog

Again, no. I already found my prince 🙂

12.  Solve a mystery

Maybe? Probably? But more along the lines of ‘who took the last bagel and left the empty packet on the counter’ than anything police-worthy. Although I was pretty good at solving the crimes in Bones and Castle – great shows.

13.  Go camping (for real, not in the ballroom)

Tick.

14.  Own a pair of yellow rainboots

No. Which is a definite loss. Yellow gumboots/rainboots are awesome!

15.  Walk behind a waterfall

Tick. I’m not sure if it’s open anymore due to erosion and safety, but when I was a child, I loved walking behind the big waterfall at Springbrook National Park when we visited every year for my Grandma’s birthday. I can still remember it pretty vividly. Including the snake I almost stepped on while getting there one year.

16.  Tell Mom I really don’t like her corn muffins

I don’t think my mom has ever made corn muffins, but I have no doubt they’d be amazing if she did.

17.  Plan a surprise party (and actually do it)

Tick.

18.  Spend a night stargazing

Not a whole night, but certainly an hour or two. Amazing.

19. Make a speech in front of at least 100 people

If we’re counting primary school assemblies then yes. I don’t think I have as an adult yet though. One day.

20.  Eat a fried tarantula

Not a chance. (Actually, I’d probably do it, just to say I had, but hate it) I have held a live tarantula though, which was a big deal for someone who’s not fond of spiders.

Eleven out of twenty isn’t too bad. How would you do? Also, if you were making a list like this, what’s one thing that would be on yours? Let me know in the comments!
