- What is your favorite scene from the book and why?
- Which character did you most relate to or connect with? Why?
- Kenna’s parents chose to stay in Peverell, within the palace, and therefore restrict their freedom to talk about God. Do you think this was the right decision? Why or why not? Have you ever chosen to stay quiet about your faith for a particular reason?
- How do you think the story might have changed if Ben had admitted his feelings to Kenna when he first kissed her, after the ball? Do you think he was right to stay silent?
- What did you think of the idea that those who followed God were the Rebels? Did it surprise you? In what ways do you think Christians are considered rebels in the world today?
- The Rebels use the phrase ‘all will be well’ as both a statement of their faith and a way to identify themselves. When Kenna argues with Ben that he can’t know that for certain, he tells her that he can because ‘God is good, and no matter what happens to me, all will be well because he still will be’. Do you agree, or do you think their faith is too simplistic?
- Even after the actual whirlwind ends, Kenna still feels as if she’s in the middle of one with all the changes in her life and decisions she has to make. Have you ever felt as if you were stuck in the middle of a whirlwind? What happened? How did you find peace?
- Wenderley comments to Kenna that the true test of our faith isn’t when we get what we ask God for but when we don’t. What do you think of this comment? Would you agree?
- Do you think you’d like to be a royal? Why or why not?
- If the book were to be made into a movie, who would you cast in each role?
