  1. What is your favorite scene from the book and why?
  2. Which character did you most relate to or connect with? Why? Was there anyone you really didn’t like?
  3. Were there any scenes that surprised you or you didn’t see coming?
  4. Unlike Kenna and Alina, Wenderley isn’t a princess. How do you think that affected the way she related to the other royals? Do you think it did?
  5. Queen Galielle asks Wenderley to promise not to marry Marcos until he becomes a Follower/Christian. Do you think this was fair of her to ask? Why or why not?
  6. Marcos and Wenderley both made serious commitments regarding physical affection in their dating relationships. What do you think of those commitments? Do you think they were setting themselves up to fail by making them?
  7. Alongside the romance and fun, grace is a big theme in Heart of the Crown. What does grace mean to you?
  8. King Everson made some pretty big mistakes in his life, which finally caught up with him in this book. Do you think his punishment, or lack of – as Marcos sees it, is justified? What do you think of the Rebels’ reaction to him at the trial? How do you think you might have reacted if you were in their place?
  9. As Christians, we often feel the need to hide our weaknesses and failures – as Wenderley did with the group of girls she mentors. When one of her girls tells Wenderley that she respects her more because of her mistakes rather than less, Wenderley is shocked.
    “I’m not saying what you did was right or that you should have lied about it but it’s like, if God can forgive you for that then I know he’ll forgive me for the bad things I do too. There’s hope. If I make a mistake or fail or something, it isn’t the end. God can still use me and my life, like he’s used you to impact mine.”
    Why do you think we feel the need to hide our mistakes/weaknesses/shame from each other? How do you think the world/church might change if we started admitting them?
